As a mother, I understand how hard it is to find the time to keep in shape, or in my case, get back into shape. Between taking care of your new baby, work, and your daily tasks, there just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day. Jogging Strollers are a great way to multi-task. You can get your workout, and spend some time with your little one too.

Jogging strollers have a come a long way in the past few years. Most models now include certain safety features that keep you and your baby safe. If you're purchasing one for the first time, you should follow a safety check list. Five-point child safety harness's come pretty standard for most models, as well as parking brakes. If you plan on doing any serious running, look for the following safety features.

Safety Features

· Hand brakes - Attached to the handle bar, hand brakes are a must. They give you more control over your speed, especially on steep terrain.

· Safety tether, aka running leash - Attaches to the stroller and then to your wrist, keeps the jogging stroller from getting away from you.

· Head and neck support - Regardless of how smooth the suspension may be, it can still be a rough ride, so make sure that your baby's head will be supported. Keep in mind, babies unable to support their own head should not be in a jogging stroller. In fact, most manufacturers recommend that if you plan on running, your child should be at least 6 months.

· Deep Seat - Ensures that you baby is more protected from the large front wheel, as well as providing a better center of gravity.

Additional Safety Tips For Any Jogging Stroller

· Never leave your child unattended, and if you have to step away, even if it's only for a second, apply the parking brake.

· Always use the child safety harness, even for short trips. If you child has a habit of trying to stand up, like my daughter, he/she may tip the jogging stroller over.

· Use the under-seat storage, not the handle bar. I see this all the time, Mom's hanging their purse on the handle bar, or shopping bags. This may make your stroller top-heavy, and cause it to tip over. So use the under seat storage instead, that's what it's there for.

A jogging stroller is a great investment, and if you follow the above safety tips, your family will continue to enjoy endless adventures.
